Geomatix partnered with LINX to develop geospatial software for agricultural mapping and business enumeration, deployed across multiple Nigerian states for large-scale data collection and spatial analysis.
Mapping agriculture at state scale
Effective agricultural policy and investment requires accurate data—where farms are located, what's being cultivated, who's farming, and how land use is changing over time. For most Nigerian states, this data simply doesn't exist in usable form.
LINX needed software that could support large-scale field enumeration—teams of data collectors capturing farm boundaries, crop types, and farmer information across entire states. The data needed to be spatially accurate, centrally managed, and ready for analysis.
Existing tools were either too complex for field use or lacked the GIS capabilities required for proper spatial analysis.
Purpose-built for field data collection
We designed the software specifically for the realities of field enumeration in Nigeria. The mobile application works offline, captures GPS coordinates and polygons accurately, and syncs data when connectivity is available.
The backend was built to handle large volumes of spatial data, with tools for quality assurance, duplicate detection, and data cleaning. The web platform provides mapping visualization, reporting, and data export capabilities.
Training was a key component—we developed materials and conducted sessions to ensure field teams could use the system effectively.
